CJ E&M is continuing to expand the reach of its tvN Movies channel, dedicated to Korean blockbusters, across Southeast Asia.

After having launched at the start of 2017, tvN Movies is already available in Singapore and Malaysia, on three major operators and counting. Adding on to the channel’s reach is the launch on Viu, a pan-regional OTT video service, by late August in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and coming soon in two other Southeast Asian markets. The expansion with Viu allows tvN Movies to be streamed from mobile devices through the Viu app.

tvN Movies has licensed first and exclusive pay-TV rights in Southeast Asia for a number of top-grossing Korean films, including Confidential Assignment, The Prison and Fabricated City. More blockbusters will be available in the first quarter of 2018 on tvN Movies, including the war epic The Battleship Island and the action comedy Midnight Runners.

“Partnering with Viu, one of the industry’s best regional OTT platforms, is a significant step for tvN Movies,” said Samey Lee, the CEO of CJ E&M HK. “They are, no doubt, our partner of choice. It is our top priority to continue the development of tvN Movies and further extend our reach across the region. By launching on Viu, tvN Movies takes a step further to strengthen our footprints across Southeast Asia and will strive to deliver the best home-cinema experience to audiences.”
