Telemundo to Shutter International Channel

MIAMI, June 14: At the end of this month, Telemundo’s
international channel, available in more than 20 Latin American markets, is
going off the air, World Screen Newsflash
has learned.

Telemundo Internacional, launched in 2000, currently offers
a mix of Spanish-language entertainment, sports and news. Previously focused on
news, the network was relaunched at the end of last year as a broad-based
general entertainment offering. It is available in more than 20 Latin American
countries on cable and satellite.

Sources tell World Screen Newsflash that the decision to shutter the international
network will allow Telemundo to focus on its U.S. operation, which includes the
cable network mun2.

Telemundo has not yet announced the decision. The Hispanic
broadcaster was not available for comment.
