LONDON: Turner Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) has elevated Tarek Mounir to VP and general manager for Turkey, the Middle East, North Africa, Greece and Cyprus.

During Mounir’s time with the company, Turner has expanded its channel footprint across kids, news and general entertainment, while also enjoying ad sales growth and developing successful local content through such hits as the Emirati cartoon Mansour in UAE and Kral Sakir in Turkey. He contributed to the deal for the soon-to-launch Cartoon Network theme park zone, as well as the creation of Cartoon Network Studios Arabia. He also helped rejuvenate Turner’s Turkey business since taking it over less than two years ago.

Mounir will work under Giorgio Stock, Turner EMEA’s president, who commented: “This promotion recognizes Tarek’s role in aggressively developing Turner’s presence in the region and driving significant growth, across both free-to-air and pay-TV platforms and in the nonlinear space.”

Rani Raad, the president of CNN International Commercial, added: “Tarek has done an outstanding job of building strong teams whose creativity and enterprise across Turner’s expanding Middle East portfolio have helped drive an overall growth trajectory in an increasingly important market.”
