RTS Video: Managing Talent

At the RTS Cambridge Convention, A+E Networks’ Heather Jones chaired a panel on finding and keeping the best talent that featured Sony’s Wayne Garvie, Channel 4’s Ed Havard, Comedy Central and Paramount Networks’ Jill Offman, and Avalon’s Jon Thoday.

Finding and keeping the best talent is the key to commercial success—whether it’s the face of your channel or the personalities who anchor your entertainment formats. But it’s a tricky balancing act. Agreeing to the right deal, keeping your existing talent happy and preventing your rivals from poaching them is enough to keep broadcast execs awake at night.

A panel of experts takes a look at navigating the talent jungle. Chaired by Heather Jones, the general manager for the U.K. and senior VP of content and creative at A+E Networks, the panel features: Wayne Garvie, the chief creative officer for international production at Sony Pictures Television; Ed Havard, the head of entertainment for TV events and sport at Channel 4; Jill Offman, the executive VP of Comedy Central and Paramount Networks Intl. and managing director of MTV UK & NCEE; and Jon Thoday, joint founder and managing director of Avalon.
