SundanceTV Starts Year with Original Series

PASADENA: Hap and Leonard, The Last Panthers and Rebellion have been slated as SundanceTV’s first three original series of 2016, followed by the family drama The A-Word.

Premiering March 2, Hap and Leonard is a six-episode AMC Studios production is based on the novels by Joe Lansdale and provides a country twist on the classic mystery thriller. The Last Panthers, meanwhile, is a Sky Atlantic/CANAL+/SundanceTV co-production that bowed internationally in November. Due out on SundanceTV on April 13, the six-episode limited series follows the repercussions of a daring diamond heist.

In addition, Rebellion is a Touchpaper Television and Zodiak Media Ireland title debuting April 24. The five-part miniseries honors the 100th anniversary of the Irish Easter Uprising, which played a crucial role in Ireland’s independence.

Out in the spring is The A-Word, co-produced in partnership with BBC One, Fifty Fathoms and Keshet U.K. The drama captures a portrait of a contemporary family after their young son is diagnosed with autism. It’s based on the Israeli Keshet and July August Productions series Yellow Peppers.

Later in the year, SundanceTV will premiere the fourth and final season of the Peabody Award-winning Rectify, as well as Cleverman, co-produced with Red Arrow International, Goalpost Pictures Australia and Pukeko Pictures in New Zealand.
