PARIS: Series Mania Festival is expanding its scope and has opened the call for series and projects for its eighth edition, which will run April 13 to 23.

The call for submissions is open until February 17, 2017. The official competition for world premieres is being expanded in 2017 to include 12 series, up from 8 last year. An international jury will award the Series Mania Grand Prix and Special Jury Prize. The festival will unveil some 60 brand-new TV series and around 20 web and digital series in April 2017.

The upcoming edition of the festival will also feature a competition for world premiere screenings of online and digital series. In addition to the competitions, the festival will feature its traditional sections, dedicated to U.S. series, French productions and more.

Series Mania is also increasing its audience capacity with new screenings at the Forum des images, in partnership with UGC theaters, at the Grand Rex cinema, and, in another first for 2017, under the canopy at the Forum des Halles.

Additionally, this year the festival is extending the Series Mania Co-Production Forum to four days, running April 18 to 21. For this forum, 16 series in development from across Europe will be presented to an audience of 400 international industry executives.
