What are your priorities for MIPTV?
One of our main priorities is to find new and creative ways to generate additional revenue from our distribution business. Every year there are more and more platforms and channels to sell to, new innovative technology delivering content, and it is up to us distributors to figure out the various windows and optimize every potential revenue source. It’s a complex maze out there, but a very exciting one.
We have some fantastic new shows lined up for MIPTV 2010. Currently in post production is our latest epic disaster thriller, Ice in which the entire planet is left to contemplate the dawning of a new ice age. Starring Richard Roxburgh, Francis O’Connor, Stephen Moyer, Claire Forlani, Simon Callow and Ben Cross. We have some other hot titles about to go into production based on Alistair MacLean’s best selling novels. Puppet on a Chain is a gritty, energetic two part mini series set against the backdrop of the notorious Amsterdam narcotics trade. Air Force One is Down is an exhilarating, two part mini series which sees a Serbian warlord captured prompting a backlash from his loyal supporters that leads to the hijack of Air Force One.

Why will these programs appeal to buyers?
The goal for us is always to produce high-end drama playable in primetime all over the world. It sounds simple, but it is far from straightforward to create a show that appeals equally to many different cultures at the same time. Each show has to have a global compelling theme, with the right balance of action and strong characters and this is why we put so much time and money into developing the best possible scripts. We believe we are one of the rare companies in Europe that is able to achieve that balance for viewers worldwide. We’re also particularly good at delivering strong internationally recognizable casts, which makes our shows highly promotable for the broadcasters.

Is there anything else you would like to share about your plans for the market?
We all know that MIPTV is about business and making deals, but it is also about strengthening existing relationships and establishing new ones where we can. You can’t make good business without a solid relationship.
