LONDON/NEW YORK: Tim Mutimer, currently the senior VP for EMEA at BBC Worldwide, has been named head of non-scripted programming at Zodiak Rights, while a pair of promotions at Zodiak Americas sees Mike Gamson becoming chief creative officer and Sheila Cabano the chief operating officer.

Mutimer will be responsible for the sales and acquisitions activities across Zodiak Rights’ non-scripted programming. He reports to CEO Matthew Frank. Mutimer comes to the role from BBC Worldwide, where he manages the EMEA and U.K. sales teams and strategies.

Frank said: “I am really chuffed to be announcing Tim’s appointment. Not only is he an incredibly nice guy he’s also a perfect fit both professionally and culturally for Zodiak Rights. His blend of sales and acquisitions experience is exactly what I was looking for in this new role—I’m sure he’ll be brilliant at it.”

Mutimer commented: “I am incredibly excited to be joining the team at Zodiak Rights. I believe that there is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with Zodiak Media’s impressive stable of production companies to develop content that will appeal to platforms around the world. Zodiak Media’s DNA mixes creativity with an international mindset and I aim to help Zodiak Rights capitalize on these strengths and continue to grow their global business. I have enjoyed working with the fantastic team at BBC Worldwide where together we have grown the sales and distribution business over consecutive years by building programs such as Top Gear, Doctor Who and Sherlock into globally recognized brands.”

Gamson was formerly the senior VP and executive producer. Cabano was most recently the senior VP of production. Both will be overseeing Zodiak’s New York office. Both report to Jonathan Slow, the CEO of Zodiak Americas.

“Mike and Sheila have the ultimate combo—a solid track record with their network partners and a close-knit team with a distinct voice,” said Slow. “By putting more development resource into the New York office and giving them complete creative autonomy, they’ll be able to build on their existing slate of programming and continue bringing viewers compelling series with the best reality talent.
