Game of Thrones Among TV Shows Added to Guinness World Records

LONDON: The 62nd edition of the Guinness World Records will feature a number of new additions from the television landscape, including Game of Thrones, which makes it into the book with the most Emmy Awards won by a TV series in a season.

HBO’s hit fantasy series garnered 12 nods for its fifth season. The series was also the most pirated TV show in 2015 for the fourth consecutive year, according to download monitoring site TorrentFreak.

Also being recognized, the most-watched current TV show is the crime drama NCIS, which, in 2014, was sold into more than 200 markets and seen by 55 million viewers.

Fear the Walking Dead achieved the record for largest series premiere on cable TV. The show’s 90-minute debut drew 10.1 million viewers and a 6.3 rating among adults 18 to 49.

Looking at celebrity talent, British chef and TV personality Gordon Ramsay comes in as the highest annual earnings for a TV chef. Ramsay earned an estimated $60 million between June 2014 and June 2015.

The Big Bang Theory boasts both the male and female highest earning actors on TV. Jim Parsons ranks as the highest earning TV male star, making an estimated $29 million in the year to June 2015. Kaley Cuoco shares top ranking in the highest earning female TV star with Sofia Vergara of Modern Family, both earning around $28.5 million.

Comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld is recognized as the highest earning comedian (current), earning $36 million between June 2014 and June 2015.

The richest female TV creator is Oprah Winfrey, who has a net worth of $3.1 billion. Big Brother and The Voice creator John de Mol lands the top spot as the richest male TV creator, with a net worth of $1.49 billion.

Ellen Degeneres is being acknowledged as the most-followed female on Twitter, with 57,988,099 fans, while Jimmy Fallon is the most-followed male on Twitter, with 39,173,143.
