Edinburgh TV Festival Video: Save Me Masterclass

A masterclass at the 2018 Edinburgh TV Festival explored the unique development process of Save Me, specifically looking at Lennie James’ approach to writing, his characters, authentic dialogue and narrative.

The six-part Sky original production launched on Sky Atlantic in February, introducing viewers to an unlikely hero in Nelly Rowe (James). The life and soul of his local boozer—as well as a charmer, chancer, fighter and liar—Nelly’s world is turned upside down after he is arrested and accused of kidnapping his 13-year-old daughter Jody, a child he barely knew existed.

In its 43rd year, the Edinburgh International Television Festival is the seminal media event bringing together all parts of the TV world to celebrate the creativity, diversity and inspirational talent in our field and to debate major industry issues. The 2018 event took place from August 22 to 24. To view more content from the conference visit: https://www.youtube.com/edtvfest
