Celador Picks Up Classic Game Show Format

LONDON, June 19: Celador International has acquired the
worldwide television rights to the game show format Mr & Mrs, which ran on ITV in the 1970s and 1980s.

Celador International has acquired the rights from Derek
Batey Enterprises and the games company Upstarts!. Derek Batey Enterprises is
the company owned by Derek Batey, the host of the original Mr & Mrs. The deal with rights holder Upstarts! also covers
the worldwide merchandising and interactive rights including online, mobile and
other new media platforms. Upstarts! is retaining the rights to the board game
in the U.K. and Ireland, as well as the interactive DVD.

The show received its national launch on ITV in 1973 and ran
till 1988. It tests how much couples know each
other. Celador will update the format for a British and international rollout,
and will extend the merchandising to complement the existing board game and interactive
DVD.

“With the current renaissance in the popularity of the game
show, this is the perfect time to revisit and revive classic formats,” said
Adrian Woolfe, the MD of Celador International. “I’m confident that Mr &
Mrs
can be refreshed and reworked into a
modern day hit.”
