Carter Upped in FremantleMedia Restructure

LONDON, July 6: FremantleMedia
is combining its worldwide drama and worldwide entertainment divisions to form
FremantleMedia Creative Networks, which will be headed up by Gary Carter.

As president of the new
division, Carter will build on FremantleMedia’s drama and entertainment output,
driving in-house development, working with the company’s global network of
20-plus production outfits and coordinating with FremantleMedia Enterprises on
international distribution and licensing opportunities. He will also continue
to serve as chief creative officer of FMX, formerly New Platforms, which will
be part of the FremantleMedia Creative Networks segment. Here, he will work
with producers to create new brands for mobile, broadband, game consoles and
IPTV. With his promotion, Carter joins the FremantleMedia Operating Board with
immediate effect and will report to Tony Cohen, the CEO of FremantleMedia.

Worldwide entertainment
chief Alan Boyd will now serve as a special advisor to Cohen, particularly on
the Idols and The X Factor franchises; and to RTL Group CEO Gerhard Zeiler on
programming matters and entertainment output across the RTL Group of channels.

Mike Murphy, currently
president of worldwide drama, will remain a part of the worldwide drama team,
with an emphasis on building the company’s scripted business in the U.S. He
will oversee production of the U.S. version of Bianca in Australia.
