BBC Worldwide, YouTube Extend Partnership

NEW YORK: BBC Worldwide and YouTube have renewed their global partnership, including the creation of a BBC America channel for the U.S.

BBC Worldwide today debuts its new YouTube channel Explore with BBC Worldwide, featuring clips from renowned BBC factual shows, including Amazon with Bruce Parry and the Louis Theroux series such as Gambling in Las Vegas. Other new clips include The Race for Everest and Extreme Dinosaurs. The channel joins the recently launched Food from BBC Worldwide, which includes clips from classic cooking programs. BBC Worldwide will launch additional channels for comedy, BBC Earth and BBC America (U.S. only) throughout the coming weeks. The extension of the relationship between BBC Worldwide and YouTube also includes a limited number of full-length episodes of BBC factual titles, including The Life of Birds on YouTube for U.S. viewers.

Garth Ancier, the president of BBC Worldwide America, said: “This is a great way to popularize key content from BBC America, allowing users to sample our top rated shows from Torchwood and Doctor Who to Primeval and Hotel Babylon.”

Simon Danker, the director of global content partnerships for digital media at BBC Worldwide, added "The success of the Top Gear and EastEnders channels launched on YouTube last year prove that fans of BBC content love to have a dedicated channel for their favorite shows. Building communities for fans and developing new opportunities for advertisers is at the heart of our new partnership with YouTube."

“The BBC is renowned for high-quality programming and we’re thrilled to expand and deepen our relationship with them,” commented Patrick Walker, YouTube’s director of video partnerships. “The demand on YouTube for compelling, thought provoking, and entertaining videos like those offered by BBC Worldwide increases every day and we look forward to connecting both existing fans and new viewers with their content.”
