BBC Worldwide America Bolsters News Team

NEW YORK, July 27: Michele
Grant has been named executive VP of news and sport at BBC Worldwide America as
the company looks to build the presence of BBC News in the U.S. market.

In this newly created role, Grant is responsible for the
commissioning and development of BBC News and Sports programs and new services
on behalf of BBC Worldwide.

A key part of her remit will be to work closely with Rome
Hartman, recently appointed executive producer of a new U.S.-focused nightly
newscast launching exclusively on BBC America and the global BBC World News
channel this fall. She will also build on the existing editorial and business
partnership between BBC News and ABC News, and explore new opportunities for
the channel.

Grant most recently served as the senior VP of global news
development for BBC News in the U.S. She recently developed the BBC's World
News broadband strategy and launched the BBC World News Channel for YouTube.
She will be based at the BBC News Bureau in Washington D.C.
