BBC Takes FID Youth-Skewing Drama

LONDON, June 15: The BBC has picked up Fremantle
International Distribution’s youth-skewing ABC Family and Global TV drama Falcon
Beach
for a daytime slot, extending the show’s reach to 18 countries
worldwide.

The series, which launched in the U.S. earlier this
month, has also been licensed ABC Australia, RTE, SBS Broadcasting, Malaysia’s
RTM, Indonesia’s ANTV, ABC5 in the Philippines, ETV in Sri Lanka, Thailand’s
UBC and Hot in Israel, among others. They join a broadcast lineup that already
includes M6, Finland’s Channel 4, TV2 Denmark, TV4 Sweden, TV Norge, Nederland
3 and IBC Iceland’s Sirkus.

Falcon Beach has received a deservedly
warm welcome from broadcasters the world over, and we are certain that all will
be delighted with the results it will no doubt deliver,” said David Ellender,
the CEO of FremantleMedia Enterprises. “Dramas of this caliber are rare and the
broadcasters that have seen the potential of Falcon Beach will soon
be the envy of their rivals.”
