NEW YORK: Devising a new way of developing TV series will be one of the topics that Roy Price, the director of Amazon Studios, will address in his keynote at MIPCOM, followed by a Q&A session with Anna Carugati, World Screen’s group editorial director.

Price oversees development and production of original films and TV series for Amazon and has successfully tested a new way of scouting for new material. Amazon, in fact, has an “open source” development process and solicits ideas from creators and audiences all around the world. Earlier this year, Amazon posted a number of pilots on its site and evaluated audience reaction before making the final decisions of which ones to order as series.

During his keynote, which will take place Monday, October 7, from 5:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Grand Auditorium in the Palais des Festivals, Price will talk about this very unique approach to producing television, which pilots have been picked up and how the process worked.
